Okay, okay….
I have some EXCITING news for you! I’ll try not to shout, but I can’t contain my excitement. I will be participating in the October 2013 Tri-State TOUGH MUDDER!!!!!! That’s right; a 10-12 mile long obstacle course designed not only to test physical endurance and strength, but mental stamina as well. The event centers around teamwork and camaraderie. It is NOT a race. Obstacles include running over fire, jumping into ice water, “electroshock therapy”, and sprinting up a quarter pipe. My team includes my boyfriend, his cousin, and my brother, along with some family friends. (Click here for the TM website to learn more!)
By no means am I even CLOSE to being prepared. I feel inspired and excited to take on the challenge of getting myself mentally ready, and into the best shape of my life. These coming months I will design a fitness plan to help me reach my goals. It feels good to have something that I am working towards. Okay, now I just have to actually start training (I have been SUPER lazy these past couple months).
Oh did I mention that upon crossing the finish line you are handed a refreshing glass of Dos Equis? Ohhhhhh yeahhhh!
In the midst of getting back on the workout wagon, I’ve been making more and more healthy snacks to grab on the go, or for when hunger strikes. These little guys are a flashback to childhood lunchboxes (anyone else?!): Ants on a Log!
Crisp celery, nutty almond butter, and sweet Craisins all come together as the perfect trio.
It’s super easy to make, just don’t go overboard on the almond butter.
Have a great week everybody! If you have any advice and/or suggestions on my preparation for the Tough Mudder, feel free to leave them in the comments!
OR let me know if you live in the Tri-state area and are interested in joining my team!
